There is nothing fishy about the rising popularity of a band of local
musicians, even if they are a rock group called Kingfish. The hook is musicians age 15 - 16 are making a different kind of
rock music. The band does not sing of love or politics, lyrics are sometimes more than they seem.. Chasing The Seagulls is
is a song about changes, not seagulls. The unusual formula is working for the band. [They] have come out on top in three battles
of the bands and won the right to play at Mainstreet Days in Grapevine. The band has appeared at the Dallas Music Fest at
The Gypsy Tea Room. All the members agree on major influences such as their parents, music teachers, bands such as Radiohead,
Coldplay and local band Midlake. Kingfish also has the support of the members parents. The band was driven to their shows
by their parents in the begining. They were too young to drive."

"Inspired by bands like "interpol", "Radiohead", and "sigur Ros",
Kingfish brought their own brand of melodic, indie-rock dispair to the Best Bands Alive in 05'. The bands goal, to incorporate
as many varying sounds a possible without simply making noise. After the second song, the band handed out demos in which were
quickly snatched by an impressed, eager and relentless mob.within the first 10 minutes, the band already revealed tastykeyboard
stylings paired with a tamborine;it was set.. Sam Smyers somewhat haunting vocals reminded me of Ian curtis (Joy division),
and Paul Banks (interpol) while the band's mellow beats hinted at Coldplay's wistful sound with the serenity of
Sigur Ros. While a mamber of the audience did the robot, I thought about the band's absence from the Garden State
soundtrack or an Urban Outfitters compilation, and how Kingfish's prsence would be the perfect addition. The band's
mature, rough-yet-defined songwriting was refreshing in contrast to the other performances and reminded me very much
of Midlake, a dreamy electro-pop band from Denton who has i nfluenced the band greatly. In the near future, Kingfish
plans to record and release a full-length album. Visit the band's website, kingfishtheband.com, for downloads
and information on the band and upcoming shows. "
